VISIT US

We would love to have you visit us for worship or any church activity.  Here are a few things to know about CHPC if you're a visitor:

Directions & Parking - Our parking lot is on Walnut Street between 22nd and 23rd Streets.  The brick walkway (see photo to the right) through the Weirick Peace Garden leads to the main entrance and our Gathering Space.  There is additional parking in the municipal lot one block down (towards 21st street) on Walnut (which is on the other side of the Fire Company.)  There is also some limited street parking on Walnut between 23rd and 24th Streets or on 23rd Street.  Click here for directions to CHPC.

I'm in the Gathering Space - where is worship? - Either of the staircases to your right or left will lead up to our Sanctuary, which is where worship is held.  There is also an elevator which reaches every level of the church building.  To access the elevator, go around to the right when you enter the Gathering Space from outside.

What do I wear? - For worship you'll find folks dressed in various ways - some in business attire, some "business casual," and some in jeans.  Please dress as you like!  For other activities we dress as the occasion dictates - striving for comfort whenever possible.  The most important thing is not what you wear, but that you are here!

What is worship like? - Most services are what would be called "traditional."  Worship includes prayers, responsive readings, scripture read by worship leaders, hymns from the Presbyterian (blue) hymnal, praise songs from Renew, a sermon (message about our scriptures) by one of the pastors, anthems by the choir or a soloist, and an offering (collection of donations.)  When you come to worship please see a Welcomer (they are identified by their name tags) for a church bulletin.  The bulletin will help you follow the service, and also includes the Sunday CHPCS (pronounced "chips") which tells you what's happening at the church that week.

What should I do with my children during worship? - We do provide child care in the first 3 rooms of the Christian Education wing closest to the Sanctuary for children who are infants through grade K.  However, we believe in families worshipping together, so we also encourage you to bring your children with you.  In the early part of the service there is a Children's Sermon, which is a message just for the kids.  After the Children's Sermon, infants through grade K may go to the child care rooms (exit the Sanctuary through the doors at the front on the right, and proceed to your right)  or return to sit with their parents. We have children's packets to help keep little hands occupied, just ask a Welcomer to locate them for you.

Must I give an offering? - We believe that our offerings are a gift to God (through the church) in response for His grace in our lives.  It is not required, but we believe that gratitude leads Christians to give of their time, talents, and treasure.  Offerings received during worship support the ministry and mission of CHPC.

What is Sunday School? - Sunday School is the primary Christian Education opportunity.  Christian Education is what it says - educating people of all ages about our Christian faith.  Sunday School for all ages which happens on Sundays during the school year at 9:40 AM.  Please visit our Christian Education page for information about church school and our many other educational opportunities.

What do members of Camp Hill Presbyterian Church believe? - Our most basic belief, that is held in common by all of our members, is that Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior.  Presbyterianism is a form of Christianity that comes out of what is called the "Reformed Tradition."  For more information about what Presbyterians believe, click here
